Doug Pike calls on Jim Gerlach to vote for health care reform
Ardmore, PA - Democratic candidate for Congress, Doug Pike, issued a statement today calling on Congressman Jim Gerlach to do the right thing and vote for health care reform.
"The health care system in America is broken, and needs to be fixed. All around the 6th District, people are struggling to pay their health care bills, or worse, forgoing medical care altogether due to their lack of insurance," Pike said. "This is shameful and an affront to our common values, and Jim Gerlach has the power to do something about it. I strongly urge Jim Gerlach to vote yes." Pike added, "I have worked as the President of a hospital and I know that our health care system can be fixed. We just need Jim Gerlach to have the political backbone to do what is right and buck his party's leadership."
Doug Pike served on the Editorial Board of The Philadelphia Inquirer for 14 years, providing insight and analysis on a broad range of public policy for southeast Pennsylvania. He also served as President of a hospital for 10 years. Previously, Pike served as a Special Assistant and Speechwriter for U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas. In 1971, Pike graduated with honors from Princeton University. He resides in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County.
